An Upper Peninsula Sunrise is Worth Rolling Out of Bed Extra Early

Negaunee - June 8 2011 – Negaunee Township sunrises are spectacular. It’s 6:30am and 73 outside with a heavy atmosphere. The skies seem just dull and thick with a blanket of grey, and this gorgeous image emerges.
Sunrise 6:30am Dead River Basin June 8 2011
As the sun climbed higher an orange trail shot out almost inviting me to walk that bridge to that bright orange ball.
Sunrise 6:45am Dead River Basin June 8 2011
Yesterday at 5:30am, I awoke and enjoyed balmy warm temps.  Skies were heavy. Humidity was up. Then I saw the sun emerge and fill the sky with an awesome Orange hue.

Upper Peninsula Chickens Short Out 100 Watt Incandescent Bulbs

Burnt Light Socket with broken Incandescent Bulb

I smile watching Chickens.  It is hilarious as they move around the pen as they sneak outside and chase the closest bug.

I love those fresh brown eggs they lay and reluctantly surrender everyday to my probing hand under them.1  Fried, the robust yellow yokes taste twice as good as grocery store’s white eggs.

One of the oddities of a flock of chickens is the dust they create in the coop. Watching these birds peck, scratch, and shuffle — raising a cloud of dust — always brings a smile to my face.

Burnt Light Sockets with broken Incadescant Bulb

This spring, while collecting eggs during a snow melt, a light bulb exploded inside the coop . The bulb blew apart leaving it hanging from the filaments. I removed it and and screwed in a new bulb. The next day while collecting more brown eggs, the new replacement bulb blew.

Trying to figure out what as going on with all the blown up bulbs, I removed the light fixture from the ceiling. On the backside, I found a quarter inch of chicken dust, I labeled “Coop Crapp”.

I asked is the Coop Crapp really conductive enough to fry a circuit?

Did electricity really travel across the dusty Coop Crapp and blow two bulbs?

I know brown eggs electrify my taste buds,  but really?  Hmm…apparently a quarter inch of chicken dust, alias Coop Crapp, conducts enough electricity to blow a bulb.  Who knew?

Big Boys Strawberry Fest Has Me Captured in my Imagination

image

Marquette – May 18, 2011 – After enjoying coffee and cream, my focus this afternoon is on eating big, fresh, red, ripe strawberries.  Berries are scarce in Marquette, but Big Boy restaurant has them.

Since Michigan’s weather remains in the 50′s, I am assuming the big, awesome berries I am enjoyings at the Marquette Big Boy had to come from the deep south.

As I said my imagination runs wild. Did they come from Atlanta Georgia, or the Florida pan handle? Are they Mexican berries or did they come from the rattle snake infested patches in Phoenix?

I suppose it really doesn’t matter. All I knows Berries that big have captured my thoughts. Gotta be Big Boy.

Marquette’s Lower Harbor lights up over Lake Superior

image

MarquetteMay 17, 2011 – Lake Superior is glistening as Lower Harbor lights up downtown Marquette at 5:45am. Today looks like “Sunshine on my shoulders” in the Upper Peninsula.

When I awake on a day like today, and travel to work, I just decide to have a great day. It is true that we pick our moods. However, many times as things happen I tend to forget about that choice.

Someone told me Sunday this is the day that is made…So rejoice and be glad in it. I like that and this Lake Superior sun rise gives me that hope.

Inspiring Youth from Wisconsin and Northern Michigan partipiate in Fine Arts sponsored by the Assemblies

image

Waupaka - May 14, 2011 - Hundreds of Wisconsin and Northern Michigan kids come together to celebrate the gifts God had given them. About 30 kids from Good News Assembly of God Ishpeming participated. Many received high honors and will be invited to attend the nationals in Phoenix Arizona in early August.

About a thousand kids from various Assembly of God churches gather each spring at Waupaka High School for a celebration of the fine arts.

Kids are encouraged to play the piano, guitar, brass or woodwind instruments. Also featured are worship bands, team drama groups, art  projects, and public speaking by delivering a sermon on a topic these youth are passionate about. They truly rise to the occasion and deliver inspiring performances. Many have hearts of gold, and view their performances as a token of thanks to God for the gift he has given them.

These kids are cream of the crop in talent and solid Christian core values. Many will go off to college and further develop their gifts becoming preachers, teachers, pastors, and worship leaders. College Scholarships are award to all with honors.

All those music lessons, and all that harping on them to practice has paid off because the child falls in love with the gift.

I am Inspired! Check out the post at www.wfxd.com
