Mackinac island – Saturday July 9, 2011 – Since 1634, Millions of people have visited the historic city of Mackinac. Today hundreds are in town and they’re hopping the boat and riding the ferry to the Island.
The city is packed with people from every state imaginable. I noticed license plates from numerous states and Canadian plates too.
The smell of freshly rolled fudge captures me. Ohhh, I’d prefer a Carmel and Peanut Covered Apple.
50 kites line the sky right by Sheppler’s ferry boat entrance to Mackinac Island.
Two weeks after the Lilac Festival I found the last remaining lilac tree in full bloom. One lilac bush blooms on the north side of town by Lake Huron. Cool breezes keep the area colder keeping this lone lilac bush in late bloom.
And I just noticed this morning there are still 43 Sheppler’s ferry boat tickets available at www.upbargains.com. Major Discount has them on sale in Marquette at 906-228-6800
