Shop the “Ma and Pa” Shops

Hi…Todd Noordyk here, with comments on “Behalf of Living in our great area”… I’m a local resident, a home owner, a small business guy. I shop here, go to church here, and am involved with our local schools, athletics and the arts, and I shop at home with the small guys as often as possible.

Let me just say, Now, more than ever, it is important to support our local independent businesses. During these challenging times, the little guy will have a tougher time of it. We don`t have deep pockets nor do we have stockholders to support us with cash infusions. No bailouts for us little guys!  Just those large corporate establishments that in a way really have messed things up!

The small independent “Ma and Pa” shops are the personality of our community. At Great Lakes,we have some 20 employees here funneling our earnings back into the community by spending it at home. We buy our stuff locally and recycle our dollars back into our community. We support our local businesses. We donate to our schools and local charities. We volunteer our time for local charitable events. We are part of the beautiful and interesting landscape of our community.

As a part of the small “Ma and Pa” community, we are not large ugly boxes! We are not a “mart”! We are not faceless! We avoid the Box. We support the local “Ma and Pa” Shops everyday. They have personality, knowledge, good selection, and provide great service.

The independent business community is the backbone of America. The large corporate faceless retail box is a prime example of what is wrong with America! Think about it! They are ultimately bad for America!
There`s a lot of great “Ma and Pa” shops right here with everything you really need. Plus the money recycles locally like 7x’s.

Going to the BOX means your money to Arkansas, California, New York, or over seas.

My friends, join me and the Great Lakes Family this Christmas by shopping at the “Ma and Pa” shops. Look to go local and independent first!  You`ll be glad you did!
