Marquette Michigan will be home to the National Ford Model A Convention June 19 through 23 2012

This is the first time the national convention has been in Michigan which seems odd but exciting because the Model A was born here.

Henry Ford helped build Michigan. He was responsible for the railroad build out from Detroit to Marquette. He had numerous factories in the Upper Peninsula. Henry Ford would spend a lot of time in the Upper Peninsula especially in Big Bay.

The famous Woodie was made in Kingsford from hard woods here in the Upper Peninsula.

Dozens of these Vintage Woodies will be in Marquette June 18 through 23

Numerous seminars will be held during the convention and locals are encouraged to get the $80 family membership and participate in the interesting seminars. Even if you love Chevy’s or Dodge cars, you’ll learn from these informative seminars.

An AfterGlow Car Show party will be held midday Saturday June 23 at 1:30pm at Applebee’s of Marquette. Anyone with a vintage vehicle is encouraged to drive on in and join the Model A folks remaining in Marquette Township after the convention. Any Vintage vehicle owner that Drives into Applebee’s will have a free lunch sponsored by the Marquette Charter Township, Great Lakes Radio,Inc. and Applebee’s.

The event is planned by volunteers in the Superior A’s UP Chapter

This musical event is part of the churches Re-Imagine series, which happens once a month on a Sunday evening.

41 West will play some spirited Lincoln Brewster songs along with some older favorites.

Church members invite anyone in the community to visit and enjoy an hour of music. The members will be providing complimentary coffee, cookies and pie.

41West will perform as a 5 piece band with Naomi Noordyk singing and playing acoustic guitar,

Gene Uuro on lead guitar,

Dennis Harold on drums,

Todd Noordyk on keyboards.

New Day Service leader Bob Ross will end the worship time with a love song unto Jesus called “Have I Told Your Lately That I Love You.

All are welcome at the First United Methodist Church of Marquette, located on Ridge Street across from the Landmark Inn, kiddy corner to Peter White Library.

The event was promoted on area radio stations and in the paper. The psa was heard on Smile.fm 88.3fm, 103.3fm WFXD, and on Sunny 101.9fm WKQS

In West Michigan on December 18 around 11am 2o+ of the Keehl Family gathered in Fremont Michigan for gift giving, stories and an excellent meal together.

Later that afternoon 2o+ of the Noordyk Family gathered in Spring Lake Michigan for gifts, songs, food and lots of fun conversation. Whew we had a lot of good eats that day!

Then Christmas eve Luke and Cori surprise Naomi, Rita & I with a drop in visit from Denver Colorado soon after a 21 hour drive arriving at hour home around 10pm. The door was locked, 2 of us were asleep and most of the lights were off, and in they came. Amanada then joined us Christmas day for gifts, fun outside, and a great meal.

Christmas was the best ever this year.
